Japanese Braiding with a Kumihimo disc

Finishing your braid

You can finish your kumihimo braid in differen manners: tie it off, with an endcap or a crimp endcap.

Tie it off

How to your kumihimo braid off with the cord you are braiding with , will be explained on the photo's.
Take a smal loose cord and make a loop (on the photo the red cord) and put it on your braid (photo 1)
Take one cord of your braid and put it around your braid a few times from the bottom up and put the end through the loop of the red cord (photo 2). Now pull gently the red cord down so your cord will go down under the bindings.
This is the original way to end your kumihimo braiding.

Endcap

To put a endcap on your kumihimo braid to make a bracelet, necklace or key/mobile chain, tie the cords together with some thin jewelry thread(photo 1) This way the cords will stick together without the braid getting loose. Next cut the cords with sharp scissors (photo 2)
Glue the end with jewelry glue into the endcap.
You can use endcap krimp as well. Just make sure you won't see the wire on your braid.

Some enddcaps won't have a hook, Solve this problem to put a pen with a hook into the endcap and bend the other end into a hook as well. (see photo's ')
